And so it came to pass that they called her out to perform a few tests and tasks at night. "Let's just get this over with so I can go home," she muttered, stepping into the room once again. Twice in one day was asking a bit much of her, she believed, but the pay was good. And as the gravity was increased, Android 18 worked to push her hair behind her ear. The movement that she did at least once ever two minutes or so in a matter of milliseconds took almost eight seconds to complete under this new gravity. Her hair was heavier, and the joints in her elbow were more difficult to move.
"Make your way to the weights at the other end of the room, Eighteen. Please, fly. And once there, perform ten reps for observation." Flying? That would be simple enough. Eighteen tried flying and found it... somewhat difficult. Her batteries we designed to go into restoration mode at night and were to only turn back on in case of emergency. Testing at Capsule Corps didn't constitute an emergency. So basically she was running on half energy; she certainly didn't have this much trouble earlier today.
Curse Dr. Gero.
As she landed near the weight bench press, 18's legs almost gave out. Her knees bent, but she caught herself. She settled in to begin, laying supine on the bench and gripping onto the handlebar. She lifted the weight up off the rack; her scouter told her it weighed 500 pounds. Given the increased gravity, though, it was more like 20,000. The first rep was difficult. The second, difficult. The third, not so much.
And by the sixth one, 18 was cranking the reps out like nobody's business. Her body had easily adjusted well to the gravity and could now work the limit. Okay, Eighteen, you can stop." But she didn't stop. As she disregarded the lab assistant's intercom command, Android 18 went all the way to twenty five before finally placing the weight back on its rack.
Getting up from the bench, flying back over to the entrance/exit was easier than it had been when she was flying to the bench. A ten minute session had resulted in a large power boost for the pretty cyborg and vast knowledge for the CC Scientists.
