Stepping into the lab full of eggshell white tile and stainless steel medical supplies, Android 18 would push a lock of hair behind her ear. She was here as a favor to Krillin who was doing a favor to Bulma who wanted to help out her dear old dad. Dr. Brief hadn't been able to develop a useful invention in a while; all of his findings and leads led to dead ends. So the thought on everyone's mind: why not ask the super computer to give a little input?
But there was maybe something people were failing to realize. Android 18 was a byproduct of the Red Ribbon Army. Her creator had been the infamous Dr. Gero. Her input would reflect his ideologies - this would show soon enough. "Well, professor, are you ready to begin?" she asked indifferently before sighing. Stepping forward she followed him as he began to give a rundown on some of his latest flops.
He first showed her a design for a new type of boot. Anti-Gravity boots, actually. The idea behind the product was to train human infants to fly by getting them accustomed to the weightlessness they would experience during flight. The problem? They spontaneously combusted. And when asked if she had any suggestions to solve the problem, Eighteen would coolly reply with, "Let's move on." Obviously there was no solution for crazy.
The next design was a miniature poodle constructed using scrap metal. The dog sat on an elevated bench, slowly putting one foot behind the other. Dr. Brief was about to explain the design when Eighteen cut him short - "No need to explain. I think I see what the problem here is." Bulma had obviously misunderstood just how big of a slump her father was in. These inventions were pathetic.
She began to strut to the big-screen super computer that was mounted to the wall. The holographic keypad materialized as she approached. Dr. Brief stood behind her; he was paying her to help him, so he'd take the backseat and let 18 do her task. "Doctor Briefs, I'm going to be honest with you, those inventions were terrible." The doctor hung his head, whispering "Yes, I know." "If you want an item that people will purchase, it has to be practical and utile."
She began to press away buttons on the keyboard. Her mind was processing some complex formulas and equations, trying to develop a code. A TING- noise was heard and she stopped pressing buttons, reaching into a bin next to the computer and plucking a computer chip and plugging it into a USB port. "You're trying to build something new without giving yourself enough time to think of new ideas. Before putting new things onto the market, try modifying the old ones." A second TING- was heard, and her chip was complete.
Taking it and stepping back over to the mechanical K9, 18 would lift the thing and turn it upside down. Opening up its control panel, she carefully inserted her own design. After placing the dog back down, it practically ran off of the table it was moving so fast. "There, an accelerator chip. If it has a control panel, you can install this chip. Toys, cars, spaceships... even Androids." She looked over to the president of Capsule Corp as he inspected her work on the computer screen. Everything seemed to be in order, all right.
Accelerator Chip!
-when installed in Androids, it provides +15 to speed stat.
-when installed in space travel vehicles, it cuts travel time by one-third.
