Over all-
Born isolated from a majority of the world, far from it, not geographically but rather culturally. It is within a small desert village where Nam descends from, it is here where the talented fighter was raised, and it was here where he became a humble, selfless, and brave peasant. When he seeks out a goal, he will achieve it with every fiber of his being, most often due to the fact that if he fails there will be terrible consequences. He takes his responsibilities very seriously, though he does not let fear of failing or failure deter him, though he can fall into despair, he knows there simply has to be another way.
Peaceful by nature, he would rather try to solve disputes diplomatically if possible, sometimes even resorting to begging if the need is great enough, and often only if it is for the sake of many. Perhaps a Buddhist, definitely a pacifist, however he is no stranger to using violence when it is needed, such as defeating bullies, defending good and defenseless people from tyrants or villains, and may even resort to killing if a situation is particularly desperate, but make no mistake, he takes no pleasure in killing but friendly competition with friends is welcome.

Weakness:
As is the weakness of all living, breathing, creatures, Nam is vulnerable to death, illness, and what have you. Though his age has been prolonged due to his unusually strong use of chi [which, like Master Roshi, his life will be prolonged], however he will likely not live forever, and his intolerance of monsters will shorten it even quicker. He can feel pain, be injured, fall ill, or die of starvation or thirst.
History: [/size]
Nam's story begins just as everyone elses does, he was born, perhaps not as everyone is born, but he is born to an unnamed mother and an unnamed father, to a small, poor, desert village. Here he was born to a rough life, if it wasn't helping ensure there was enough food to survive season to season, it was learning to adapt, and if it wasn't that, it was being preyed upon by desert bandits. It is unknown when Nam first learned how to fight, the end result is very evident. His skin was toughened by the intense heat, his body tempered by hard work, and his fighting skill strengthened with meditation and training.
It was after many years, defending the village, as well as doing everything he could to avert disaster, the worst yet came when the village suffered the greatest drought yet, the riverbed dried, inpart thanks to a massive dam upstream, as the bravest and strongest he suggested the only way might be to go to the city and purchase water there. Therein lay a dilemma – the village was without a penny and no way to afford such. A new plan was put into effect – Nam would participate in the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, to earn the price money to afford such.
Acquiring the last of each villagers most cherished belonging to pay for fees and such, Nam departed the village with their dependence weighing heavily on his conscience. He traveled the desert on foot and soon arrived to the city and signed up to the tournament. With no desire for the glory, nor the greed for wealth, nor the excitement, Nam kept a relatively low profile but his martial prowess was clearly great enough to land him in the semifinals with 7 other fighters. They consisted of Krillin, Bacterian, Jackie Chun (Master Roshi), Goku, Ranfan, Yamcha and Giran.
While he waited for his fights, he ignored most everything around him as he mentally prepared himself, resorting to meditation and ignoring most everyone around him. While he waited for his match, he refused to so much as eat, despite clearly being extremely hungry. Perhaps it was out of some sort of guilt that he should eat while his village starved, though became disgusted with Giran's wasteful eating habits. Soon his match was announced, and he squared off with a seductress by the name of Ranfan. Nam was confident in his ability to win, but he wasn't prepared for what was in store.
As a kind and pure hearted man, he was to fight a woman who used her own charms and preyed on his kindness by pretending to be hurt, shrieking, and other such cheap tricks in order to strike Nam hard in his unawares. When he grew wise to this, she pulled her ace in the hole, while those cheap tricks would not work, she resorted to stripping. Nam, being a mostly serious man was reduce to a embarassed mess, and nearly edged off simply from avoiding her. When she went on to make her final move, he resorted to closing his eyes and relying on his other senses, managing to avoid her attack and swiftly knock her out with a chop to the back of the neck, knocking her out for the count of 10.
He had been warned there would be people like her at the tournament, but he never began to imagine that sort of thing could happen. In his final match, he went against the child prodigy Goku, each managing to land a blow on one another, and Goku even managed to save himself from ring out thanks to his tail. However, Nam got the advantage when Goku attempted a strange spinning movewhich left him grounded and immobilized. Though a kind man he was, he was fighting for a whole village and thus resorted to using a risky move in which he jumped incredibly high into the air, and by being tugged back down by gravity he struck Goku in the chest and neck with his Cross Arm Drive.
He immediately apologized after knocking out Goku, and suggested it would be 9-10 days which Goku would remain unconscious but just at the 9 count he managed to get up. Shocked, he attempted to try it again, in which Goku responded by following him, their battle in the sky was short before Goku managed to land first and kicked Nam off the stage. He lost, his mission was lost, and the last bit of wealth his village had was lost. No doubt shattered, he maintained a strong composure as he climbed back up, and shook the winner's hand, expressing honor to fight such a strong opponent and congratulating him kindly.
Though complimented in turn, it was a small gesture to ease the great pain he suffered. Images of his suffering village troubled him as he prepared to leave, however encountered Jackie Chun first and figured out Jackie Chun really was Master Roshi, and further meant that even he had heard of the legendary turtle hermit. Though losing, Roshi revealed to Nam that water there was free and with a dynocapsule allowed him to take an entire resevoir of water with him. In exchange, Nam posed as Roshi in the crowd, so that Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha would not figure out that Jackie Chun and Roshi were the same. With that, Nam then departed and brought with him the gift of water.
However with even the great amount he brought with him, Nam deduced that they would still need more yet. Learning of a lake of great renown that moved to aid struggling villages suffering from Drought, he again set forth to find such a place. No doubt still suffering from hunger, thirst, and exhaustion, he carried on before he was attacked by a great flying dinosaur. In his weakened state still, having been weak even prior to the tournament, he was unable to fend it off and as grabbed in a steel-like vice. Thankfully an adventurous Goku stumbled across them after having found isolated lake.
Leaping to Nam's defense, he knocked it out of the sky and caught him on the Flying Nimbus cloud. He clearly had a pure heart as he was able to ride atop of it with no problems. The pair travelled further in search of the water before coming across a great dam held together by merry-go-round gum. After Nam had asked Goku to take him to those in charge, Goku did where Nam asked why the Giras needed such water and pleaded with them. They refused, until Nam lost his head and proceeded to knock them over out of desperation and anger. They quickly prepared to attack when Goku came out and claimed they'd have to go though him first. Efore things escalated further, Giran appeared and was the true head of the lot of them. He expressed a desire to help, harboring no hard feelings about his loss at Goku's hands, but claimed the Merry-go-round gum dam was indestructible.
Goku proved them wrong as he fired a Kamehameha which managed to pierce the dam, making the structural integrity deteriorate against the great volume of water it held and soon it collapsed and the pair returned to the village to celebrate. No sooner did they accomplish this, when a severe sandstorm rolled n and smothered the river. Villagers quickly fell into despair, until Goku guide them to the lake which proved to be the fabled lake, leading to the villages prosperity.
In the following year, with his villages future secured for a long while, Nam meets with Goku yet again in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. Unlike his initial time, this time he has come for the fun of it rather to achieve some heavy responsibility. It was a refreshing prospect, and to meet some familiar faces, it was worth it. However he had not prepared what lay in store for him as he goes up against Tien Shinhan, who utterly defeats and nearly kills him. It was a sour victory, not because he is particularly proud but rather the kind of person who defeated him. It also made him question his fighting abilities and his role as protector of his village.
Never the less, he began to train, and even started to teach his younger brothers should the village ever have need of him, if he never came back. The following year, such an event occurred when Nam was blindsided and slain by the infamous Tambourine under King Piccolo Sr.'s orders, his presence in the village almost threatening the lives of his brothers and people. For years he trains himself, though eventually he departs from his village for long intervals in order to protect their safety, as he has began to question his role, in doubt of whether or not he an defend them, no, anyone from evil.

BONG! Bong! Bong! Bong!
The serenity of such peaceful living, yes even the shrieks of children in play, was cut through as a large, copper, bell which hung above the dome-shaped village center was rung. Repeatedly, again and again, it's low and ominous tone was a very clear warning – the village was under attack. In the distance, dust and sand was swept off the ground behind what appeared to be a band of bandits, no doubt looking for villages rife with loot to plunder. This village might have been easily overlooked, were it not now for the now fertile green land which cultivated crops, a large and healthy looking tree, most of which the village was most thankful to Nam.
However, for now, there was a slight fright but as the looters came close, something began to become very evident – they weren't hiding in fear, they had grouped around the enter and watched them come. This was unusual, and if they had any fighters they would have already appeared by now. “What's this? They're watchin' us like we got 2 heads or somethin'!? Let's slaughter the mess of them, and do it quickly!” a one-eyed hyena man would proclaim most visciously, sporting a worn leather jacket, still meters of land in between the people of the village and the marauders.
At last, Nam stepped from his humble home, pushing a colorful curtain aside as he stepped out, followed by his younger brother who has stirred Nam from his deep meditation. The tall man stepped out before the village, not rushing out, but calmly walking towards them with his features set in stone, unflinchingly he would wait for them, though he wore humble clothing befitting of a farmer, which he was, he carried himself much more strongly than they had expected. The cackling brood found themselves with a mysterious guy, oh sure they could shoot first and ask questions later, it seemed as if he had something to say.
Much to the dismay of the pack.
They stopped, the 12 of them, each armed with either makeshift melee weapons crafted from scrap or jerry-rigged guns and rifles. More than a match for peasants, Nam greeted them with a bow “Welcome to our village, please could I interest you in leaving us in peace?” He would offer, graciously and with care, however he spoke with confidence and looked at the group. Deep down he knew these men would not, but it was against his nature to assume and strike blindly, it was a question of what would Buddha do?
Of course his request would be met with a blade to his throat, and a resounded laughter as it appeared they were not interested. “Hahaha! Really, is that all you wanted to ask? You've got food we wanna eat! And people we wanna slice up! Now die like the rest!” It was obvious, but as the supposed leader sought to slit Nam's neck, the blade went clear through an after-image, imbalancing the man as a foot flew through from behind where Nam had stepped back one step and drove his foot into the man's face. “So very typical, no different than a bunch of animals. I won't let you harm my village.” He'd proclaim with an inner calm.
However, this action did not gain a peaceful reaction, instead the lot of them roared ferociously, the men and animal men who were under the hyena's leadership, who at that moment would recover, missing a few teeth with a wild look of pain to his eyes. “Leave nothing left standing!” The man roared, quickly they closed in, hoping to stab, shoot, and gut the man with the funny hat. He didn't quite fight back yet, closing his eyes as he dodged, ducked, and sidestepped. “So you truly won't leave then? Fine, expect no apology from me!” the brave desert fighter would at long last take action against the rabble.
Nam quickly ducked and dodged two weapons, moving through them and one by one, placing a well aimed chop to the back of their necks. One of the gunmen trembled slightly, as more than half of his friends fell in what felt like a second. He moved to squeeze off a shot, however each shot following it would appear to either miss the man in front of him, or perhaps he simply could not be shot? Trembling, the man moved to fire again and found something very interesting...
Klik...
The gun was out of ammunition, running out just as the lingering courage left his fingers. Nam quickly, moved his bare feet across the hot sand, faster and faster “Now feel my own thunder!” Nam would shout as the skittish man turned tail but before he could escape, the desert fighter struck him har from behind, driving his crossing arms into his back and driving him hard into the sand, lungs draining of breath as he fell unconcious.
“I am sorry, but you awful men forced my hand in this matter.” the people looked on, they may not have hid, but still they worried for the worst. Each of the marauding criminals was gathered and laid outside the village, to await their eventual awake.
Stripped of their weapons, hours pased, the sun beginning to go down, it's intense heat being replaced with grim cold. Each began to stir, awakening with terrified gasps, but Nam sat motionlessly, waiting for them to come from their slumber. Confused and dazed, they eventually noticed the strange fighter they faced. “You are are awake? Good. You sought to harm this village, sought to harm it's people, but never again. We have taken your weapons, and as a poor village, have nothing to give you for your journey. Leave and do not come back, or I will be forced to ensure that you do not hurt anyone again.”
Weaponless, though perhaps disgruntled, they weren't about to try it again with their fists. Quickly the men pressed themselves up, perhaps it was a tad cruel what Nam had done and he as truly and deeply apologetic, but they would not learn otherwise. Releasing his hand, a bundle of discharged bullets fell from his hand, some of the skin of his palm punctured and bruised from holding them so tightly.
“And so, another day passes on this great, bare, land...” Nam would mutter to himself profoundly as he would stand, and move back towards the village, without water to worry about, he would soon have to train his brother to protect the village in his own stead.
