All roads lead to Rome as they say, right? Well Central City just so happened to be the Rome around these parts and it was where Gohan found himself on a fine day. It was a mixture of all of the other cities, being in the middle it was exposed to more diversity than the other ones. It had the inventions from West City, the hagglers from East City, and the ridiculous Hercule fans from Satan City. Ahhh, it was a very nice city to be in and as far as he knew there weren't going to be any surprises from random people that he had met or was already connected to in some way that didn't make sense to him at all. It should be an easy day of work, if Roshi didn't try to stop him again today.
Gohan arrived and received the crate as usual. This city also had the bins that had been designed in West City. That was a good thing as it meant that he didn't have to wait at doors for people to either answer it or for him to realize that nobody was home. He kept moving, his feet a blur as he ran from bin to bin. He was becoming very speedy in comparison to what he had been when had first arrived on Earth. Perhaps this milk delivery thing was actually paying off. He felt rather light on his feet and his speed was a rather amazing thing. He could almost imagine that he was faster than Burter had been when they had met on Namek. He had been so quick that he could catch a dragon ball that Vegeta had thrown, no easy feat.
Central City was confusing though, Gohan felt as if he was off course every time he turned down a different street. One street looked exactly the same as the last one and the half saiyan had wandered around the block trying to find the right house for thirty minutes. Every time things started to look up, the young man began to feel the dismal boredom of the job. The only exciting things that happened were when Master Roshi randomly appeared and attempted to keep him from continuing the job. Hopefully the old man would appear some time today.
The crowds in this city were abysmal, not caring if a one-armed man carrying a crate of glass bottles of milk was attempting to make his way down the sidewalk. Gohan wanted to teach them a lesson, one swift kick and they would clear out quickly. The half saiyan would never actually do that but frustration made him think of things that would help calm him down. Who hadn't imagined beating the guy that kept getting in the way while moving things. He could just imagine it now. He let out a heavy sigh, evicting the violent mental picture from his mind.
Gohan kept his ki sense searching for Roshi, wondering when the old turtle hermit would finally make his appearance. The young saiyan was prepared for any attack that might be thrown his way. He wasn't going to let that old man phase him, no way. Gohan walked on with his confident thoughts, alert when Master Roshi's power level finally did appear. It wasn't like before, it didn't seem like he was preparing for a battle this time, he was just strolling along, calm as he could be, from what Gohan could sense.
The turtle hermit was very devious at times though, aiming for the weakness of his opponents and students alike. The old man tottered around the corner, holding a bowl in his hands. It was full of steaming hot food, the scent of which was intoxicating to Gohan. He stared at the food, his mouth hanging open as he drooled openly. The half saiyan hadn't eaten anything since this morning and that had only been to tide him over for a while. He had planned on stopping to eat before he began his deliveries but he had forgotten.
Gohan stared at the food with intense longing, walking along the path that he had already been going upon. He bumped into quite a few people who seemed angry yet the half saiyan was oblivious, staring at the food with desire. He began to whimper as he continued to deliver the milk, feeling his grumbling stomach begging for food now that he had been reminded. Goku had often told him that it was difficult to do anything on an empty stomach yet Gohan had never taken that warning seriously until now. He felt like he was made of lead unless he was moving towards the food.
The half saiyan sprinted to each and every last house, the speed with which he worked amazing. The bottles disappeared in quick order, flying in to the designated bins as Gohan moved as quickly as he could. The young man tumbled into a restaurant, throwing out the spare zeni that he had. He didn't care what food they brought, as long as it was edible and there was a large amount of it. He began to devour everything they brought to him, eating as quickly as he could to restore his energy.
