Gohan looked over the city. Ginger Town had apparently been the site of some disaster in the past although all of the details he had managed to receive were rather vague. It was his final day as a milkman and it had been a long, arduous journey to get this far. He wondered if his father would have been able to do this when originally being trained by Master Roshi. Not many people had the ability to counteract an avalanche yet Gohan supposed that a well placed Kamehameha would have been able to divert disaster. He rubbed the end of his left arm, which was close to half of what had been his bicep.
The half saiyan was rather confused by this town. Most people on Earth seemed rather open, trusting, and happy. Gingertown was the home of careful, almost hostile. When he had arrived to grab the crate of milk bottles, the man had pointed a gun at him as he was walking through the door. Gohan could only imagine what would make a community so defensive. He had grabbed the package, walking slowly so as not to startle the man... He didn't want any of the bottles of milk to be broken! That would be a horrible occurrence. He moved cautiously down the street, unsure of how to go about this.
The first door was locked and even when it was pushed open slightly, there was a chain securing the door from opening too far. The man requested that the milk be left on the door step and watched suspiciously as Gohan obeyed the request. He had been to Gingertown once in his own timeline and it hadn't been nearly so defensive. The event must truly have been devastating for them to be so suspicious about outsiders. He didn't want to see what happened when someone like Piccolo showed up here. Non-saiyan aliens were generally less welcome when they had strange appearances, for example green skin.
Gohan ran in between the houses, although he slowly moved when he reached any area that could possibly be seen by the people inside the houses. He didn't want to startle anyone. The half saiyan figured this was going to take the rest of the day. The end was in sight though and he just had to persevere, keep going until the bottles were delivered and the crazy old Roshi was satisfied with his training. He kept moving carefully, not wanting any of the prying eyes to think that he was doing anything harmful to the city.
Gohan could hear a plane zooming by in the sky. It didn't really register as the half saiyan continued his task. He moved as quickly as he thought he could without spooking the locals. He could almost hear Master Roshi's laugh though. "Hehehehe." Perhaps the overly cautious town had something to do with the turtle hermit? Had he given them some bad advice or was there another trick coming in some form? The young warrior couldn't imagine what the senile old man could be attempting with this, though he didn't want to be lulled into a false sense of security either.
A ki blast shot down out of the sky, not aimed at Gohan, yet merely at the street. It made the sound of a small explosion, leaving a small crater in the ground. Suddenly everything became clear to the half saiyan. Roshi had warned them of impending danger and then had sent him to deliver milk. Thus when he flew by in that plane, he could create a loud noise and startle everyone in the town. It was ingenious. Too ingenious. That crazy hermit had better be glad that his student was strong or else Gohan might find this portion to be incredibly painful.
The young warrior began to dip and dodge as a hail of gunfire started, nearly all of it aimed at him. He moved at such a speed that human eyes could no longer follow him as he quickly placed milk at all of the doorsteps. The loud booms of larger weapons was punctuated by the rat-a-tat-tat of smaller automatic weapons. Gohan could only hope that they all had to reload at the same moment as he whirled from house to house, avoiding any thing that came his way while using afterimage to set down any bottles without danger of the bottles shattering. It was difficult, holding a large crate with only his teeth, yet the incredibly powerful young man did just that.
The half saiyan managed to put down the last bottle, fleeing from the town as wave after wave of lead was sent after him. Gohan did not appreciate this, not one but. He would have to teach Roshi a lesson when he got back to Kame House. He launched himself into the air, finally free of the no flying restriction that had been set upon him since he had started this accursed quest. "Finally done. Time to go get some real work down." The young man left a trail through the sky as he flew at blistering speeds towards his current mentor's residence.
