Gohan had finally made it back from those horrid milk deliveries. The young man felt sorry for all milkmen, especially ones that had to go to each city or ones that were harassed by a crazy old man with a turtle on his back. He had at least broke the tedium of the day by day routine though, warriors powerful enough to destroy planets were not meant to have the menial tasks that were assigned to non-fighters. Gohan could only image his father attempting a normal job. Goku as a clerk at a grocery store, doing push-ups behind the counter. It would never happen, his was just too much of a warrior and warriors couldn't just sit idly and wait... well most of them couldn't.
Gohan was really starting to wonder if Master Roshi would get off of his back, literally. The old man knew some farmers nearby that were having problems plowing their fields so he had decided to continue the half saiyan's training there. The turtle hermit wanted to come along so that he could make sure that Gohan followed his rules and didn't use any techniques that would make it go along more quickly and so he could sit there and laugh at him. Master Roshi was a cruel, cruel teacher, that senile old man. The young man let out a heavy sigh as he finally reached the field, waiting for the elderly man to hop off.
Master Rosh jumped down and then tottered off to the side, sitting down next to the field. He looked at Gohan, nodding, as if to say that it was time to begin. The half saiyan began to think of ways to go about this. He only had one idea and that was to slam his hand into the dirt and run up and down the fields, leaving furrows. That of course would be difficult with his singular hand but that seemed to be the only option open to him. He moved over to the square patch of soil that seemed to be rather hard.
Gohan slammed his hand into the dirt, his face set in a determined grimace. He began to dash from on end to the other, turning around at the end only to run back towards the other side. He kept moving as fast as he could, knowing that Master Roshi expected him to do this with as much speed and precision as he could. He kept going, the dirt becoming much better for farming as he did so. The side of his hand slammed against something big and hard. The young man was brought up short by this, tumbling forward.
Gohan let out a heavy sigh, digging with his singular hand to find the source of this failure. He could now figure out why their plow had broken and they needed help. A large boulder had somehow become lodged into their field. He cleared out a small area over the top of the large rock. Gohan looked back at Roshi for a moment then shattered the boulder with his hand. He began to toss the remains into the distance, hoping that he didn't hit anything with the broken shards of the rock. They weren't large but he was throwing them with quite a bit of force into the distance.
The half saiyan began to rearrange the soil, having left a large hole in the ground. Gohan wasn't exactly a farmer but he figured it wouldn't be productive to leave a large patch in the middle of the field unusable. His hand was already covered in mud and dirt, while the clothes that he had worn for this work were brown in color now. He could only imagine what his mother would have done had she seen him now. The young man shivered at the thought, knowing that while Chi-Chi wasn't exactly powerful, her rage was fearsome and she did know how to fight rather well for a human.
Gohan, satisfied with the work that he had done to cover the hole the boulder had left, continued with his work. He moved more quickly than any regular human could see, although many people seemed to be able to do that now. The young man's hand was beginning to feel rather sore, although that was probably most from the boulder, which he hadn't been expecting to be there. The half saiyan wondered if Roshi and the farmers had known about that before he had encountered it. Probably, that senile old man was always trying to make things difficult for the new generation of fighters.
Gohan scowled as he finally finished with the job, attempting to find something to wipe his hands off on. He muttered to himself as he walked back to Master Roshi. It didn't appear that any rags were provided for him. The young warrior would just have to clean his hands in the waters around Kame House. The turtle hermit leapt on to his back, obviously intent on getting a ride back as well. Gohan sighed, obviously annoyed by the old man, yet not wanting to say anything. The half saiyan put on an expression that spoke volumes about his discontent as he traveled back to the hermit's house.
