Part 1: Popo's Training
After his interesting training with Korin, the wise old feline had given Neylo the means to visit the Lookout of the Kami of Earth. He'd lent him his power pole so he could make the trek up to the lookout without any trouble. As Nelyo stepped onto the platform and let the pole reduce back to its normal size and return to Korin he heard an unfamiliar voice, "Hello. We've been expecting you." Neylo was a little shocked by that statement, but he would not be rude. He looked up and down the one who had greeted him. An oddly dressed pitch black individual with a kind enough smile and an overall peaceful demeanor.
Hello. My name is Neylo Zig. Are you the Kami of Earth? He asked rather directly. "No. My name is Popo. It is a pleasure to meet you, Neylo. I understand you are here for some training and perhaps to meet Dende. He is the Kami of Earth, not me." Neylo nodded, "Tha's correct."
"Good. Before you can meet Dende you must land a single hit on me. It is part of your training and a test to see if you are worthy of further training." Neylo nodded with a smirk, "Alrigh'."
The blonde alien really wanted to meet with this Dende because he knew the Kami of Earth would at least have some answers for him. If that meant he had to do this somewhat ridiculous sounding task, so be it. He immediately made a lunge step towards the genie and thrust his right arm forward for a punch. With what looked like no effort at all, Popo sidestepped the blow. He was in the same stance as before with his arms behind his back and that same peaceful look on his face.
Neylo stood upright and moved directly in front of Popo. He relaxed his body entirely before sending his left arm, palm open, at the chest of the genie. Again the result was looked the same at first glance. But something had changed. Neylo had felt the lip of the genie's vest on his fingertips. He stopped for a moment to contemplate why that would be so.
He had hesitated and not put his full effort into the first attempt. So it made sense that he would do better on the second try. Though he'd still not put forth his full effort, he wasn't hesitant anymore. It was obvious that Popo was much more than he seemed. Even though Neylo could sense his life force he could not surmise how someone of his level could be so fast.
He would try a third time, keeping his body relaxed and his senses open. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His aura flickered around him for a split second and his arm extended at the genie once again with his index and middle finger aimed to poke the odd man. Popo evaded again, but his vest was hung on Neylo's fingers.
With no hesitation, Neylo rotated at the hips and let his other arm use that rotation for added speed. He was successful at last. He had his palm placed on Popo's chest. "Didn' want to hur' ya, mate." He said, lowering his hands. "You picked up on the purpose of that exercise rather quickly. The key was to make no wasteful movements. In a serious battle you will need all the stamina you have to fight. If you waste it with hesitation and overextension you will defeat yourself." Neylo's eyes widened as he realized just what Popo meant. His first attempt was full of hesitation, and he lunged into the attack. That made the attack easy to read, left him open, and wasted energy. He had never really thought about combat that way, usually fighting on instinct for the most part.
Part 2: Dende's Training - Fight Yourself!
"You've done well to pass Popo's test, Neylo. I will give you my training. If you can pass my test I will tell you the answers to your questions." A youthful looking Namekian walked up beside Popo. "I's an honor to mee' you, Dende. I'll do my best." Neylo bowed to Dende and then waited for further instruction.
Dende motioned for him to move to the center of the Lookout platform, closer to the building that was perched there. He pointed one hand at Neylo and suddenly the blonde alien was wearing heavy ankle and wrist weights, and had on a weighted vest."You must defeat yourself while wearing these weights. The copy of you knows all of your moves and fights like you do. You will have to overcome yourself." With that, Dende turned and walked away with Mr. Popo following him. As they walked away Neylo's own shadow stood up in front of him and took his usual fighting stance. The look of determination on Neylo's face was a sure sign that he was aware that this would be a long fight.
The copy didn't wait for him to enter his stance, either. It sent a barrage of energy blasts straight at him and followed them closely with a full body tackle. Neylo was knocked about from the blasts and then flat backed by the tackle. The copy attempted to leap into the air and land on top of him, but Neylo countered with a rising kick, shoving off the ground with both hands and kicking with both feet. The copy managed to 'roll' to one side to avoid a serious hit from the kick.
The copy rushed at him while he was recovering from his failed attack and delivered a barrage of body blows. Neylo didn't need to move for what he did next, so the speed difference of the weights was irrelevant. His aura burst around him and hardened in place immediately. The copy damaged itself somewhat before realizing it was in trouble and backing off.
He's fightin' like I used to. If I focus my though's an' use wha' Popo helped me realize, I migh' be able to make up for the speed difference. He thought, flipping himself over in the air and landing back on his feet. He relaxed his stance, letting his arms hang at his sides and balancing his weight evenly on his feet. He took a deep breath again and opened his senses. His copy was an extension of himself in essence, so sensing his movements was much easier than doing so on someone else. The copy lunged at Neylo with a ki infused Dynamite Kick, which Neylo made a single short arc arm movement to redirect above him. He raised his other arm simultaneously by bending it at the elbow. He released from his palm the strongest Nova Flare he could muster in that instant. The copy was lifted off its feet and thrown several meters across the Lookout.
No hesitation came from Neylo now. He was in the zone. His arms raised above his head and yellow energy pooled in his palms. He shoved both palms in front of him and let fly his Luna Breaker Technique full force at his downed shadow. Though it tried to counter with the same technique, it was heavily injured from the Nova Flare and it didn't have time to properly charge. The copy was defeated and faded back to its proper place as Neylo's shadow.
