Having realized that, after a particularly cold morning in West City, he was losing his resistance to cold (which he had developed a while ago to prepare for an attack on Earth), Goten decided to strengthen it, extremely. The only way to do this, in his eyes, was to go into the deep north and stay for awhile. His job had casual hours, so he decided to take a week off for it. But first, he needed to stop in Penguin Village, about which he had heard stories from his dad, for supplies.
He landed in the city, knowing that no one would be too bothered from it. He wandered around, giving a few friendly hellos here and there to those who noticed him. It wasn't long before he located a small general store, which he entered. He wore only his martial arts uniform, so the cold bit him hard... but he ignored the growing numbness.
"Hello, sir, how may I help you?" asked the clerk. Goten greeted him politely and gave him a list of what he'd need. Of course, money was no object to him at the moment. The clerk gathered the materials as Goten watched the town square from the window.
It took a moment to comprehend what happened while he looked on, as it seemed that one minute everyone was walking around being happy, and the next, several men were holding a crowd hostage with rifles. Goten sighed. He called back to the clerk, "If you don't mind, sir, I'll be back in a few minutes. I want to step outside." "Yeah, I'll be a few anyway," the clerk called from the back store room.
Goten walked out of the door, and none of the men with guns noticed him. They shouted at the crowd: "Don't move!" "No funny business!" "This is for destroying Red Ribbon Army!" Goten was surprised. He remembered Red Ribbon Army from what his father had told him, as well as what had happened with Dr. Gero and the androids when Gohan was a teenager. Though, they were gone. what were they doing here?
Goten took to the air, if only a few inches above the ground. He dashed toward one of the gunmen and tapped on his shoulder. Confused, the man turned around. "It's not a good idea to hold people hostage. If the police don't get you, people like me will. Goten grabbed his gun and hit him over the head with the butt. The sound alerted the other men, who aimed at him and ordered him not to move.
It didn't work well, since Goten simply got a chance to fire a few Ki blasts and was able to more or less pile the men atop one another, as well as removing their guns from them. The ten criminals were quickly incapacitated by the villagers, and they thanked Goten for his help. "It was no problem. Just be more alert next time, okay?"
Goten entered the store, where the clerk was just exiting the back room. "Here's your things," he said. Goten paid and thanked the man and walked out. Not a full second later, the clerk noticed the men tied up outside, and looked at Goten's back through the window, confused completely.
